I will try my best to give a WIP progress everyday. I'm not really good at creating a likeness sculpt hopefully I'm doing this right .__.
If you have any feedback, please do comment on this thread. Thank you

First day. Gotta say nailing the likeness of the concept was veryy difficult. I failed twice before reaching the final draft. Although, I think I did the sculpt quite similar to the concept. If you have any resources/tutorial regarding matching 3d sculpt with concept please kindly share to me too T.T

For this sculpt, I just match the spotlight image with my sculpt... also eye-balling it by looking reference, and luckily it works LOL.

Unlike many people that create the whole proportion first, I need to nail the head first before proceed to the rest of the body so that I can get the feel of the character. So yeah, I will create the rest of the body tomorrow. See you.

Wip Day 2
Struggling with the body because the character from original concept looks skinny but muscular at the same time. I'm using the traditional hero proportion for this character where the chest and shoulder parts are large & wide, while his belly and waist is small. After this I will continue to refine the body before sculpting the mesh. Until next time~

WIP Day 3

Cloth is done. Tomorrow I'll make the rest of the props. Struggling with the ropes behind his waist. It took me almost an hour to sculpt that rope detail (rip.) My main brush for the ropes detail was switching around dam standard and standard brush. Is there any premade brush for ropes detail?? Hm... is it even allowed to use premade brush??

Also, I discarded the legs and just create the pants to cover it.

Hey Willy. For a braided rope i zbrush, you can always make your own custom curve brush, similar to one shown in this tutorial ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rLugNbZnj4). It always worked great for me ;). Good luck finishing your work, looking pretty cool by far ;).

Brilliant, I've learned about curve brush before but definitely didn't think of that technique xD. Thank you for the resource. I'll apply it to my model ✌

WIP Day 4

Didn't have much time to work on due to work... Applied some polypaint to see how it would look like in colors and sculpted some little accessories. Also applied the rope technique from tutorial shared by @galu It is defintely faster than sculpting it manually lol. Thanks man!

WIP Day 5

Don't have much to show, mainly doing zremeshing to get ready for posing and adjusting the proportion. Also I don't think I will do any retopologizing work since I'm a bit slow on that and not really good at that too. So counting on zremeshing and subdividing, and then will try some poses with transpose master. Until next time

WIP Day 6

Took 2 days off from 3d stuff. Now back on it again. Since I did not do any retopology (only zremeshing), my texturing might be quite messed up. Applied polypaint on it, using spotlight. The hand tatto is quite tricky, I just took the original picture, used magic wand to take out the tatto, and plastered it on my 3d model with polypaint.

WIP Day 7
Sculpted the spear, and I'm deciding the pose now. Thinking of putting him in a wave, like surfing... (For the pose, I tried it with zbrush default tool to see how it will be, before replacing it with my character.)

But since it's fantasy, I'm thinking of making him surf with his foot while holding his spear, searching for a fish(?)
Also he has a familiar... or a mystical spirit... I'll show the concept tomorrow with another WIP update

WIP Day 8

Changed the pose. Also test out a render in Zbrush. I think i'm satisfied with the pose, will polish the detail tomorrow + correcting some material & lighting.

Oh yea, the original concept character also has a mythical beast. If I have time, I think I will make the creature after everything is good.

WIP Day 9 (or 14 if I posted everyday)

Nailing lighting & rendering is really hard on Zbrush ?

Since I did not retopo (only zremesh everything), I had to render 2-4 times for lighting pass and composited them in Photoshop. Also, I changed the pose... because the last one is a bit hard to do I think. Still lacks something though, he material seems just a little bit fake. I will try to put on surface noise and see if I can get it better. Also will sculpt water element, maybe flowing from the floor to his hand, and add the mythical beast if I have time to complete it.
