Blocked out the forms and explored shapes. The digitigrade legs complicated the silhouette in a way I wasn't expecting (they made the legs seem disproportionate from the front view) but it was a fun challenge to figure out.

Blocking out the face. I wasn't sure what expression I wanted from the character in the beginning, so I went with something unamused and serious.

I want to keep the different meshes as manageable as I can, so I quad drew base level geo for all the clothes and unwrapped some UVs for them (mostly for the sake of polygroups, but it'll definitely make texturing easier if I decide to hand paint any of the maps).

Tried to capture the hard creases and layers in the fabric at the lowest subdiv level (I later realized that I modelled the shoulder panels in the wrong places ? )

Started to explore the horns. I wanted to capture the distinct shape and texture of ram horns, but stylized.

Started working on the actual beard and bangs. I also fixed the panels orientation of the shirt.

Current stage. Adding texture and detail to the hair (haven't done all the strands yet). Need to start with the clothing detail, and he still needs his quarterstaff.

I built a slap rig in Maya with an early-stage version of the model to run some pose testing. I went through a couple, but I settled on something simple. (Not looking forward to posing this in ZBrush with no IK ? )
